Program notes:
Song from 1 ÷ ∞ was begun in the summer of 2010, completed in May 2011, and revised in 2012. It is inspired by the theories and ideas of C. G. Jung, and serves as a humble homage to Olivier Messiaen. The music depicts primordial beings (Anthropos) and archetypal elements (Archetypus), exploring their mystical relationships. Three central figures—Time, Space, and Senex (the wise old man)—weave the work together. Each is represented both by specific instruments or groups of instruments and by distinct musical materials.
